# Use your own domain

> Prepare your subdomain and coordinate DNS setup and activation with the Creatora team.

You can use a subdomain of your domain, for example `academy.yourdomain.com`, as the platform address.

Setup happens in two steps: you prepare the DNS records, and the Creatora team completes the activation.

  <Step title="Prepare the subdomain">
    Before changing the DNS records, contact the Creatora team with the subdomain you want to use and tell us whether it is already associated with another site. If you do not already have a direct contact on the team, you can write to **[hello@creatora.io](mailto:hello@creatora.io)**.

    Example DNS configuration for the subdomain `academy.yourdomain.com`:

    | Type | Name | Value |

    | CNAME | `academy` | `cname.vercel-dns.com` |
    | CNAME | `www.academy` | `cname.vercel-dns.com` |

    Your DNS provider may call the **Name** field **Host** instead.

      **Do not change the DNS records before receiving our confirmation.** We will tell you when to make the change.

  <Step title="Complete activation">
    After configuring the DNS records, notify the Creatora team. We will complete the subdomain activation.

    After our confirmation, open the subdomain address and check that it shows the platform.

    If the old site or a different page still appears, tell the team which address you opened and what you see.

This procedure applies to a **subdomain**, such as `academy.yourdomain.com`. If you want to use the root domain, such as `yourdomain.com`, ask the team for instructions for your case.
